Tennessee baseball will face LSU Tuesday night in an elimination game in the College World Series. The winner advances to the final four of the tournament, needing to defeat Wake Forest twice to advance to the College World Series Final.

The Vols and Tigers faced off in the College World Series Saturday night with LSU knocking off Tennessee 6-3 behind a fantastic performance from Tigers’ ace Paul Skenes.

Tennessee staved off elimination Monday afternoon by turning a 4-0 deficit into a 6-4 victory against Stanford. The Vols overcame a short Chase Dollander outing thanks to six brilliant innings from Chase Burns. Burns allowed just two baserunners while striking out nine.

Tony Vitello’s offense used 12 singles and big fifth and seventh innings to earn the win. Jared Dickey and Christian Moore, amongst others, recorded clutch hits.

LSU fell to the loser’s bracket after falling to Wake Forest 3-2 Monday night. The Tigers took an early 2-0 lead but couldn’t hold on as Wake Forest’s elite pitching staff shut LSU down.

While Tennessee hasn’t officially announced its starting pitcher it will very likely be sophomore Drew Beam. The right-handed pitcher boasts a 9-4 record and 3.78 ERA on the season and has been fantastic in two postseason starts.

LSU’s starting pitching plan is much less clear after the Tigers used both Ty Floyd and Thatcher Hurd against Wake Forest.

First pitch for the elimination game is at 7 p.m. ET Tuesday night. ESPN is broadcasting the game.
