The SEC has revealed every conference game that will be played in the 2024 college football season. With the additions of Oklahoma and Texas and elimination of divisions, the 2024 SEC schedule features many different matchups that we haven’t often seen in the past decade and change.
Although the SEC decided to stick with an eight-game conference schedule in 2024, almost all main SEC rivalries were kept on the schedule, especially Tennessee’s.
Tennessee’s eight conference opponents for the 2024 season are below, including home and away designation:
Home:
Alabama
Florida
Kentucky
Mississippi State
Away:
Oklahoma

Tennessee’s main four rivals (Alabama, Vanderbilt, Kentucky and Florida) are on the schedule, and the Vols still get Georgia who has long been an SEC East foe.

The most notable omission from Tennessee’s 2024 schedule is South Carolina. The Vols and Gamecocks have played every year since South Carolina joined the league in 1992. The only other SEC East team not on Tennessee’s schedule is Missouri. The Vols and Tigers have played every season since Missouri joined in 2012.
Outside of Alabama, Tennessee gets two SEC West schools in Mississippi State and Arkansas. The last meeting between Tennessee and Mississippi State was 2019 (Vols win in Knoxville), and the last meeting between the Vols and Razorbacks was 2020 (Arkansas win in Fayetteville).
Lastly, the Vols will travel to Norman to play one of the new additions in Oklahoma. Oklahoma serves as an intriguing opponent for the Vols given the fact that Josh Heupel played for the Sooners from 1999-2000 and was on the coaching staff in 2004 and 2006-2014.
‘The Josh Heupel Bowl’ will be Tennessee’s longest road trip of the season.
Five of the Vols’ 2024 SEC opponents are the same as the 2022 season–Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, Vanderbilt. Additionally, all five of those games will take place in the same location as they did in 2022. This means the Vols get the benefit of hosting Alabama, Florida and Kentucky but must go to Athens and play Georgia.
Other notable 2024 SEC games revealed on Wednesday night are below.
Georgia @ Alabama
Georgia @ Texas
Texas @ Arkansas
Texas @ Texas A&M
Alabama @ Oklahoma
Oklahoma @ LSU
Remember that while 2024 will only have eight conference games, the SEC has not yet decided on what the schedule will look like in 2025 and beyond. Assuming the SEC will decide on a permanent format, they have two options: eight-game SEC schedule with one permanent rival, or a nine-game schedule with three permanent rivals.
If the SEC goes with the former, Tennessee-Alabama will no longer be annual.
Tennessee opens the 2024 season against in-state opponent Chattanooga in Neyland Stadium. In the last meeting between the Vols and Mocs, Tennessee won in a shutout 45-0 victory in Knoxville.
