There aren’t too many players in college baseball who have the adrenaline tank that Tennessee relief pitcher Chase Burns has.
With Tennessee up 4-0 in the top of the 7th inning in Game 3 of the Hattiesburg Super Regional, Burns was brought in to get the Vols out of a jam on the bases. Burns struck out Southern Mississippi’s Dustin Dickerson on three straight pitches.
Burns then struck out Southern Miss’ Slade Wilks on four pitches with three straight swinging strikes. The final pitch from Burns in the inning came in at a blistering 102 MPH.
