The Tennessee Volunteers ended an impressive weekend in Clemson, South Carolina with a victory over Charlotte to secure their spot in the NCAA Super Regional round. This will be the third straight appearance in the Super Regionals for Tony Vitello and the Tennesse Volunteers.
The Vols outscored their opponents by a score of 23-8 over the three-game stretch. Andrew Lindsey helped send Tennessee off to a great pace on the mound on Friday while leading the Vols to an 8-1 win over Charlotte. Then, on Saturday, Tennessee survived a 14-inning thriller over Clemson thanks to late-game heroics from Zane Denton, Chase Burns, Seth Halverson, Hunter Ensley, and more. The Vols’ victory over the Tigers set Clemson back enough to lose on Sunday and be eliminated from the tournament in their own stadium.
Clemson’s loss also set up a rematch as the 49ers of Charlotte looked for revenge over Tennessee. That didn’t happen, though, as the Vols cruised to a 9-2 victory to secure the region.
Here’s a look at some of the top reactions on social media following the game in Clemson. Be sure to also check our Rocky Top Insider’s live coverage from the Clemson Regional below.

Really impressive finish to the Clemson Regional for @Vol_Baseball, dominating Charlotte 9-2 to advance to the super regional round. Now, we will see if the #Vols end up hosting the Super. USM would have a very very good case to host if it wins the Auburn Regional.

A fantastic Sunday thus far in college baseball. Super Regionals begin next Friday (Round of 16). Texas, Tennessee, South Carolina, Virginia and Wake Forest (Up 15-1 in the 9th) have all punched their tickets. 11 more teams will join em. Plenty of star power on those rosters.
