Tennessee Makes Top Five For Elite Mississippi Defensive Lineman

Four-star Mississippi defensive lineman Kamarion Franklin released his top five including Tennessee football Friday afternoon.

The Vols joined Auburn, Florida State, Miami and Ole Miss in the blue-chip defensive lineman’s top group.

Franklin is one of the top prep players in the entire nation, ranking as a four-star and the nation’s No. 39 player according to the 247sports composite rankings. The 6-foot-5, 265 pound prospect also ranks as the nation’s seventh best defensive lineman and the No. 1 player in the state of Mississippi.

Franklin dominated for Lake Cormorant High School last season totaling 93 tackles and 19 sacks as a junior.

Rodney Garner has long targeted the blue-chip recruit and Franklin has frequently made the trip to Knoxville during his recruitment. Franklin has visited Tennessee six times including for the Kentucky game last fall and twice in 2023.

Franklin has also visited local school Ole Miss six times during his recruitment while visiting Florida State three times, Miami twice and Auburn once. The high four-star defensive lineman has June official visits scheduled to LSU, Miami and Tennessee.

Tennessee’s 2024 recruiting class currently contains 12 commits including from three defensive line prospects. The Vols’ 12 commit recruiting class ranks as the nation’s eighth best according to the 247sports team rankings.
