Former Tennessee defensive back Cameron Miller is transferring to Memphis, ABC24’s Clayton Collier first reported Tuesday night.
Miller entered the transfer portal earlier this month after going through spring practice with the Vols. The 6-foot-1 prospect spent one season at Tennessee and didn’t see any playing time while redshirting.
A high three-star in the 2022 recruiting class, Miller was viewed as a receiving prospect coming out of high school but ended up on the defensive side of the ball in his one year at Tennessee. Miller spent the vast majority of his time at safety.

Miller is returning home transferring to play for Memphis. The redshirt freshman is a Memphis native and played his prep football at Memphis Academy Health Sciences where his father is the football coach. Back at Memphis, the question for Miller is whether he’ll stay at safety or return to the offensive side of the ball as a receiver.
Memphis is entering head coach Ryan Silverford’s fourth season as head coach. The Tigers have posted a 21-15 record in Silverford’s three seasons including Montgomery Bowl and First Responder’s Bowl wins.
The Tigers are looking to make a move in the new look American Athletic Conference that no longer includes UCF, Houston or Cincinnati after the school’s departures to the Big 12.
