The Tennessee Volunteers baseball team, led by head coach Tony Vitello, will travel to Clemson this weekend for a four-team mini-tournament in the Clemson Regional. The winner of the weekend will then advance to the Super Regional round while the other three teams are eliminated from postseason competition.
The Vols drew the two-seed in the tournament behind one-seed Clemson and in front of three-seed Charlotte and four-seed Lipscomb. Tennessee’s first game will be on Friday night against Charlotte as the Vols look for success in the double-elimination formatted weekend.
Ahead of the Clemson Regional, Tennessee head coach Tony Vitello, along with utility man Jared Dickey and RHP Chase Dollander, all met with the media in Knoxville on Tuesday to discuss the weekend. Dickey spoke about the benefits of having time off following the Vols’ early SEC Tournament exit while Dollander went in-depth on how much a mental strength coach has helped him throughout the season.
Vitello, meanwhile, spoke for nearly 20 minutes on all things tournament-related and the decision-making process for some of the pitching matchups on the weekend.
