Tennessee and head coach Josh Heupel landed their 12th commitment to the 2024 class over the weekend with elite running back Peyton Lewis.
The four-star running back from Salem, Virginia is an ultra-impressive prospect and marks the 12th commitment to Tennessee’s recruiting class. Lewis is also the fifth-highest recruit in the Vols’ class, the first commit from Virginia, and the first true running back among the group.
Lewis’s commitment to Tennessee came during the Vols’ “865Live” recruiting weekend that saw several prominent prospects converge in Knoxville for the big recruiting event.
Prior to the commitment from Lewis, Tennessee had a fringe Top 10 recruiting class with its 11 commitments. While ESPN’s services still have not been updated to show the addition of Lewis, the Volunteers’ class did slightly rise in two of the other three major recruiting publications. Tennessee rose two spots on 247 Sports’ charts and one spot on Rivals’ rankings. The Vols did not move in On3’s list.
