Tennessee baseball’s weekend series schedule at South Carolina is changing again. The Vols and Gamecocks will now play game one of their weekend series at 7 p.m. ET Friday night before playing a double header Saturday to conclude the regular season.

Tennessee and South Carolina were originally set to play a Thursday-Friday-Saturday series before rain cancelled game one and led to a Friday double header and Saturday regular season finale.

But the outfield at Founders Park was in too poor of condition for the team’s to play at 3 p.m. ET Friday as originally scheduled. The Vols and Gamecocks will now play game one at 7 p.m. ET Friday, game two at 2 p.m. ET Saturday and game three an hour after game two ends.

The Sunday doubleheader will be two seven-inning games. With Tennessee’s pitching depth and South Carolina’s injuries on the mound, playing two seven-inning games on Saturday instead of two nine-inning games on Friday works to South Carolina’s advantage.

Tennessee enters the weekend series 36-17 (14-13 SEC) needing a series win to keep its chances of hosting a regional alive. South Carolina enters the weekend 37-15 (15-11 SEC) but is reeling while dealing with an abundance of injuries. The Gamecocks have lost three straight SEC series and eight of their last 10 games.

The Vols are looking for their fourth straight series win over SEC east foe South Carolina.

From Columbia, the Tennessee baseball team will travel to Hoover where they’re likely to open play at the SEC Tournament Tuesday.
