Celtics vs. Heat Preview

The Heat and Celtics kick off Game 1 of their Eastern Conference Finals series tonight, May 17, in Boston. The Celtics are favored by eight points but considering the Heat are the No. 8 seed, the odds may not mean much in this one. The regular season record between the two was 2-2, and all but one game was decided by seven points or fewer. In the playoffs, the Celtics have been somewhat of a disappointment in close games, compiling a 4-4 record thanks to a 127.1 defensive rating in the clutch time of those games.

The Celtics, however, are coming off a dominating Game 7 victory against the 76ers and an explosive performance from Jayson Tatum. However, their lack of defensive consistency is what may have led to the series going seven games. That appeared to mostly fall on the Celtics’ rookie head coach Joe Mazzulla. His learning curve is going to be a focal point in this one as the Heat’s Erik Spoelstra has proven to be one of the best coaches in the league.

The Heat at +295 on the moneyline in Game 1 is a wager worth considering thanks to the value it provides and some of the glaring statistics that lean in their favor.

PGA Championship Preview

Jon Rahm is fresh off a comeback victory in the Masters Tournament to claim his first green jacket. Thanks to his performance in his last major PGA event, he is co-favorite (+750) with Scottie Scheffler (+750) in the PGA Championship, followed by Rory Mcllroy (+1300), Xander Schauffele (+1700), Patrick Cantlay (+2000), and Brooks Koepka (+2100). The closest Rahm has come to winning the PGA Championship is in 2018 with a fourth-place finish, but that may be in line to change.

The tournament will be played Thursday through Sunday at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, N.Y.
