With the 2023 NFL Draft in the rearview, draft pundits are turning their attention to the 2024 draft class. Pro Football Focus released its list of the top 10 quarterbacks in the draft Monday with Tennessee quarterback Joe Milton III landing on the list.
PFF ranked Milton as the seventh best quarterback prospect ahead of the highly important 2023 season. Milton comes in ranked behind USC’s Caleb Williams, North Carolina’s Drake Maye, Washington’s Michael Penix Jr, Texas’ Quinn Ewers, Oregon’s Bo Nix and Florida State’s Jordan Travis.
The sixth-year quarterback comes in ahead of Michigan’s JJ McCarthy, LSU’s Jayden Daniels and Notre Dame’s Sam Hartman.
“Get ready for a laser show in Knoxville,” PFF’s Max Chadwick wrote. “Milton has the strongest arm in college football and quite frankly, it might not be very close. His 11.1% big-time throw rate easily led all FBS signal-callers with at least 100 dropbacks. He has fewer than 700 career snaps across his five seasons at Michigan and Tennessee, so it’ll be interesting to see how he handles the starting job this season.”

Milton’s age — he’ll be 24 by next year’s draft — is working against him but the Michigan transfer has an abundance of things working in his favor to make him an intriguing draft prospect.
The third-year Vol has incredible arm strength and is a strong athlete. Milton’s talent makes him one of the most intriguing prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Starting two games and coming off the bench to play in five other games, Milton completed 65% of his passes for 971 yards, 10 touchdowns and no interceptions in 2022. Preparing for his first year as Tennessee’s full time starter, Milton can do plenty to improve his draft stock.
But the big armed quarterback enters his super senior season on NFL Draft boards and plenty of room to move up it.

I hope Joe Milton makes big time money in 2024. What a great young man and very humble from what I hear from people in the know. Not only a great team guy but mentor to the people who will follow. Hope he develops the touch needed both in big time college ball and the professional level. You have to pull for young guys like Joe!!
