Elite prep pass rusher Jordan Ross released his top eight including Tennessee football Wednesday night.

The Vols joined Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Oregon, Southern Cal and Texas in the four-star recruit’s top group.

Ross is one of the top edge rushers in the 2024 recruiting class, ranking as the No. 39 player and No. 5 edge rusher in the country according to the 247sports composite rankings. The Birmingham native ranks as the No. 4 player in the state of Alabama while 247sports own rankings are even higher on Ross— ranking him as a five-star and the No. 12 player in the country.

Tennessee has frequently gotten Ross on campus this year with the four-star visiting Knoxville in January and again in April. Ross has an official visit scheduled to Tennessee in mid June.

While Ross has been no stranger on Tennessee’s campus, he’s frequently visited a handful of his other suitors too. Ross has visited Alabama twice in the last year and once in 2023, Oregon once and has a June official visit scheduled to Texas.

The Vestavia Hills High School star has visited Tennessee and Georgia more than any other schools this year. Ross has twice visited Athens in 2023 and has a June official visit scheduled. While Tennessee and Georgia appear to be the two favorites, counting out Alabama for a blue chip from Birmingham is foolish.

Tennessee’s 2024 recruiting class currently includes nine commits and two defensive linemen. However, both Chattanooga native Carson Gentle and mammoth Georgia defensive lineman Jeremias Heard project as interior defensive linemen.

The Vols’ nine commit recruiting class ranks ninth nationally according to the 247sports team rankings.
