Tennessee baseball is coming off its best weekend of the season as the Vols swept instate rival Vanderbilt at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

The Vols trailed for almost all of game one before a pair of solo home runs tied the game in the ninth and Griffin Merritt gave Tennessee a win in the 12th inning with a walk-off solo homer. From there, Tennessee rolled on the weekend knocking off the Commodores 17-1 in game two and 10-5 in game three.

Tennessee got strong starting pitching as Andrew Lindsey and Chase Dollander built on strong outings against Arkansas and Drew Beam bounced back with a fantastic Sunday start. Chase Burns was electric out of Tennessee’s bullpen where he faced the minimum in four innings pitched on the weekend.

Tony Vitello’s sixth Tennessee team is moving up in the rankings after the huge win for its confidence and NCAA Tournament hopes.
