Tennessee baseball head coach Tony Vitello met with the media following the Vols’ 10-5 series finale win over Vanderbilt to complete the sweep.
Vitello talked about Drew Beam’s start, another Chase Burns bullpen outing, Maui Ahuna’s masterclass defensively, Hunter Ensley’s two-HR day and more.
“Like last year, he always seems to be smelling blood a little bit when he’s got an opportunity to finish a series in this fashion,” Vitello said on Beam’s outing. “Overall, to me watching him pitch — I’ll go back and watch video — but I think he was better than his stat line says. As good as he was, I think he was even better.”
With Tennessee’s sweep over the Commodores, the Vols improve to 8-10 in conference play and are certainly back in the conversation to make the NCAA Tournament.
