Four-star linebacker Cayden Jones will announce his college commitment on April 21, Jones shared on Twitter Tuesday morning.

Jones is a highly touted linebacker prospect ranking as the No. 150 player and No. 14 linebacker in the country according to the 247sports composite rankings. A standout at the Christ School in Arden, Jones is the second best prospect in the state of North Carolina.

Tennessee has had success recruiting the ‘Tar Heel State’ since Josh Heupel took over as the Vols’ head coach. Tennessee signed four-star edge rusher James Pearce (No. 5 player in state) in 2022 and four-star defensive lineman Daevin Hobbs (No. 2 player) and four-star receiver Nathan Leacock (No. 3 player) in the 2023 recruiting cycle.

Jones hasn’t released any lists of top schools but holds 21 scholarship offers and has taken visits to a handful of schools.

The Vols have hosted Jones for as many unofficial visits as any other school. The four-star linebacker visited Tennessee for the Alabama game in the fall before returning to watch a spring practice in March.

Jones has twice Clemson and instate school North Carolina State. The 6-foot-4, 205 pound linebacker has also taken visits to Alabama in January, South Carolina, Auburn, Ohio State and Southern Cal.

Tennessee has seven players and four four-star recruits committed in the 2024 recruiting cycle but hasn’t landed a linebacker yet. The Vols are in the thick of Nashville linebacker Edwin Spillman’s recruitment and are also pursuing California linebacker Weston Port.

The seven-commit recruiting class is good to rank No. 7 nationally according to the 247sports team rankings.
