Tennessee baseball head coach Tony Vitello met with the media following the Vols’ 6-1 series-opening loss to Florida in Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
Vitello talked about Tennessee’s offensive struggles, Chase Dollander’s night, what the team needs to do in order to be ready tomorrow and more.
“Too many strikeouts is obviously the answer,” Vitello said as to what went wrong Thursday. “Clearly there were opportunities, but nothing really spiraled in the right direction for us offensively to where we built anything. The one run we scored was where our guy got up there and had a little feistiness to him and ended up hitting the thing out of the park.”
When talking about Dollander, Vitello touched on how the pitch count got high quickly, which contributed to his night ending in the fifth.
“When Doe (Chase Dollander) was fresh, it was pretty fun,” Vitello said. “But the pitch count being a little too high was ultimately maybe what took him out of the game.”
