Tennessee Makes Top Six For Blue Chip Linebacker

Four-star Nashville linebacker Edwin Spillman released his top six including Tennessee football Thursday afternoon.

Alabama-Birmingham, Florida State, Georgia, Ohio State and Oklahoma joined the Vols in the linebacker’s top group.

 

Spillman ranks as the No. 229 player and No. 23 linebacker in the country according to the 247sports composite rankings.  The consensus four-star recruit also ranks as the second best player in the state of Tennessee in the 2024 recruiting class.

The Lipscomb Academy standout is the younger brother of incoming Tennessee receiver Nate Spillman and has been a frequent visitor at UT over the last year.

Spillman visited Knoxville four times in the last year including for the Florida game this fall and Tennessee’s January Junior Day.

The 6-foot-1, 216 pound linebacker has visited Ohio State twice in the last two years and has a June official visit scheduled to Ohio State. Spillman has been active taking visits this year, seeing both Florida State and Georgia once.

Spillman’s former high school coach Trent Dilfer is the new head coach at UAB but the Nashville native has yet to take a trip to Birmingham.

Tennessee’s 2023 recruiting class contains seven commitments including from five four-star recruits but none of them are linebackers.

The Vols’ seven-commit recruiting class ranks seventh nationally according tot he 247sports team rankings.
