Tennessee basketball made the top six for Washington transfer guard Keyon Menifield Sunday night, Menifield announced on Twitter.
Menifield included his current school, Washington, in his top six along with Alabama, Arkansas, Louisville, Ohio State and Tennessee.

Menifield entered the transfer portal last week after spending his freshman season at Washington. In his lone collegiate season, the 6-foot-1, 170 pound guard averaged 10 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game.
Playing for an average Washington team, Menifield was second on the Huskies in scoring while shooting 41% from the field and 33% from three-point range.

The Flint, Michigan native was a consistent scorer for the Huskies but had some of his best performances against strong competition, scoring 27 points against Oregon, 21 points against Arizona and 21 and 18 points against USC. Menifield did struggle against Pac 12 champion UCLA, scoring zero points in both meetings.
Menifield was a three-star recruit and ranked as the nation’s No. 37 point guard according to the 247sports composite rankings.
Tennessee’s transfer portal needs aren’t entirely clear as they still await on decisions from seniors Santiago Vescovi, Josiah-Jordan James and Uros Plavsic. Even Olivier Nkamhoua — who entered the transfer portal and declared for the NBA Draft — could return for a final collegiate season.
However, Tennessee will need to add players via the portal both in the front court and the back court. The Vols need to add a scoring guard and Menifield would fit that criteria.
Tennessee is up against stiff competition for the Washington transfer as the four other transfer options are strong programs including SEC foes Alabama and Arkansas.
