The 2022-2023 Tennessee basketball season has officially come to a close following the Vols’ loss to nine-seed Florida Atlantic in the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA Tournament.
The Owls defeated the Vols by a final score of 62-55.
After leading for the first 27 minutes of the game, Florida Atlantic found its stride in the final 13 minutes and outscored Tennessee 27-16 to close the game.
The Volunteers officially ended the season with a record of 25-11.
After the game in Madison Square Garden concluded, Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes met with the media to discuss his reaction to the Vols’ season-ending loss. Barnes spoke about personnel decisions in the second half, the senior player’s impact on the team and the program, Josiah-Jordan James, Uros Plavsic, and more.
In addition to Barnes, James and senior guard Santiago Vescovi also spoke with the media on the stage. The two veteran players spoke about the loss, obstacles throughout the season, and more.
