Tennessee basketball is one of 17 teams that has reached out to Temple transfer guard Damian Dunn, ESPN’s Jeff Borzello reported Monday night.
Dunn entered the transfer portal Monday morning after spending four seasons at Temple. Despite a long tenure at Temple, Dunn still has two seasons of eligibility remaining. The Kingston, North Carolina native redshirted his freshman season and could capitalize on the additional COVID-19 year of eligibility.
The 6-foot-5 shooting guard averaged 15.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and three assists per game this season. Dunn has steadily improved as a three-point shooter over the course of his career, going from an 18% three-point shooter as a redshirt freshman to a 34.8% three-point shooter this past season.
Dunn excels at getting to the free throw line, shooting 145 free throws in 2021-22 before shooting 183 this season. Julian Phillips leads Tennessee in free throw attempts this season, entering the Sweet 16 with 118 attempts.
A handful of strong programs have reached out to Dunn since he entered the transfer portal including Auburn, Gonzaga, Miami, UConn, Villanova and Missouri.

An important offseason awaits Tennessee basketball whenever its run in the NCAA Tournament ends. The Vols have five seniors on scholarship and while four of them could return to school for an extra COVID-19 season it seems unlikely all of them will.
Freshman Julian Phillips could test his luck in the NBA Draft while there’s always a possibility for Tennessee players to enter the transfer portal.
The Vols have three incoming freshman who will join early enrollee Freddie Dilione inside Tennessee’s program.
What Tennessee’s roster will look like next season is very unclear, but there will likely be sizable roster movement this offseason.
Before then, Tennessee continues its run at the NCAA Tournament. The Vols face off against nine-seed Florida Atlantic in the Sweet 16 Thursday night at Madison Square Garden.
