Tennessee-Missouri Baseball Postponed, Will Play Doubleheader on Sunday

The SEC weekend series between No. 2 Tennessee and Missouri in Columbia, Missouri has postponed the Saturday game in favor of a doubleheader on Sunday.

According to Tennessee’s game notes from Friday, “Saturday’s originally scheduled game has been postponed due to expected high winds and low temperatures. The Vols (15-4, 0-1 SEC) and Tigers will now play a doubleheader on Sunday consisting of two seven-inning games which will be streamed on SEC Network+ through the ESPN app.”

Game 2 between Tennessee and Missouri will take place at 2:00 p.m. ET on Sunday. Game 3 between the teams will take place approximately 30-45 minutes after Game 2.

Sophomore right-handed pitcher Chase Burns (2-0, 1.88 ERA) is expected to get the nod on the mound in Game 2 with fellow sophomore right-hander Drew Beam (3-0, 2.57 ERA) closing things out in Game 3.

Tennessee did not have a good showing in their SEC-opening contest against Missouri on Friday afternoon in Columbia.

The Vols fell behind quickly with Chase Dollander on the mound, which eventually spiraled into a 9-1 win for the Tigers. Missouri opened the game with four runs in the first inning and closed the contest with three runs in the eighth inning to seal the deal. Tennessee only found one run on three total hits thanks to a Christian Moore home run in the sixth inning.

No. 2 Tennessee will look for their first win of the SEC slate this Sunday during a doubleheader against the Missouri Tigers in Columbia.
