Tennessee Opens As Slight Underdogs Against Duke

Tennessee basketball opened as three-point underdogs against Duke for Saturday’s Round of 32 matchup in Orlando, according to Caesar Sportsbook.

The over/under is set at 128.5.

The four-seed Vols will technically be the home team against five-seed Duke, but the Blue Devils are definitive favorites against Tennessee according to pundits and the public.

Duke is in the Round of 32 in Jon Scheyer’s first season as head coach after dominating Oral Roberts 74-51 in the opening round of the tournament Thursday. The Blue Devils are playing as well as any team in the country and comes into the matchup winners of 10 straight games including an impressive run in the ACC Tournament.

Tennessee is in the Round of 32 for the second consecutive year after knocking off Louisiana 58-55 Thursday night. The Vols withstood a second half Louisiana run by getting crucial stops and hitting enough free throws to earn the victory.

Rick Barnes’ eighth Tennessee team has been inconsistent in recent weeks, posting a 6-7 record since the start of February. The Vols are 3-2 since point guard Zakai Zeigler tore his ACL and will have a challenge slowing down Duke point guard Jeremy Roach.

Tip-off from the Amway Center in Orlando is at 2:40 p.m. ET Saturday. CBS is broadcasting the game.

  1. slight underdogs? I’ll be shocked if the Vols don’t get blown out. I hope it doesn’t happen, but I don’t seethes being close.
