Former Tennessee cornerback Cameron Sutton is on the move. After spending the first six years of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Sutton signed a three-year, $33 million contract with the Detroit Lions Monday. The three-year contract includes $22.5 million guaranteed.
Sutton grew from a spot role in his first seasons in the NFL to a full-time nickel starter and finally to a full time starter on the outside last season.
The Georgia native started 39 of his 84 games played in Pittsburgh, totaling 168 tackles, eight tackles for loss, 38 pass breakups and eight interceptions. Sutton’s best two professional season were his last two.

The former Tennessee standout made 52 tackles and recorded two interceptions in six pass deflections in 2021 before recording 43 tackles, three interceptions and 15 pass deflections last season.
A four-year starter at Tennessee, the Steelers drafted Sutton in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. In Sutton’s four-year college career, the Georgia native totaled 111 tackles, 13 tackles for loss and seven interceptions.
The three-star recruit was a day one starter under new head coach Butch Jones and was one of the most talented defenders on a roster that’s put a handful of defenders into the NFL.
