Tennessee is set to defend its 2022 SEC Tournament championship this week in Nashville with a grueling test ahead.
Tennessee comes in as the fifth seed in the tournament, which means that the Vols’ coveted double-bye is out of the question. The Vols will begin the tournament on Thursday afternoon in the second round against the winner of No. 13 Ole Miss vs No. 12 South Carolina on Wednesday evening. The winner will advance to the quarterfinals on Friday with a date against No. 4 Missouri.
Prior to hitting the court for a light workout on Tuesday afternoon, Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes and veteran guard Santiago Vescovi met with the media to discuss their current thoughts on the team.
Barnes spoke about the SEC Tournament and how the team is looking to become more consistent heading into the game. He also spoke about the point guard position, the poor defense at Auburn, and much more.
Vescovi, on the other hand, spoke about his memories from last year’s tournament and how he believes that will benefit the veteran-led team that Tennessee is currently putting on the floor.
