With a 68-63 loss to No. 25 Texas A&M on Tuesday night in College Station, TX, the No. 11 Volunteers are continuing to slide as the regular season nears a close. Tennessee’s loss on Tuesday night makes for their fifth loss in the last seven games.
Tennessee started the game out hot and jumped out to a nice lead, but A&M wasn’t going to stand down too long behind a roaring crowd at Reed Arena. The back-and-forth game went down to the wire as the Aggies were able to hold onto the win in the final minutes of the contest.
After the game, Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes met with the media over a zoom call. Barnes spoke about his immediate thoughts on Tennessee’s loss, the difference at the free throw line, the biggest mistakes from the game, what he was proud of and much more.
Tennessee guard Santiago Vescovi and forward Tobe Awaka followed Rick Barnes on the zoom call and gave their own reactions to the game. Vescovi spoke about battling illness and feeding off the energy in the arena while Awaka spoke about Tennessee’s mindset and mentality moving forward.
