Tennessee basketball fell one spot in this week’s Associated Press Poll to No. 11 after a 1-1 week saw the Vols earn a massive win and disappointing loss.

Rick Barnes’ eighth Tennessee team knocked off No. 1 Alabama in the midweek with an elite defensive effort as the Vols ended their two-game losing streak and handed the Crimson Tide their first SEC loss.

Tennessee couldn’t follow up its strong effort against Alabama as the Vols laid an egg at Rupp Arena. Kentucky opened up a 20 point halftime lead and despite a strong second half, Tennessee never truly threatened its border rival as a lack of consistency continued to plague the Vols.

Tennessee is one of just three SEC teams in this week’s poll joining No. 2 Alabama and No. 25 Texas A&M.

After an extremely difficult week, the Vols stay on the road to face a strong Texas A&M team Tuesday. The Aggies struggled in the pre conference slate but has been fantastic in SEC play and currently ranks second in the conference.

Tennessee finally gets a break in the schedule after its trip to College Station when the Vols return home to Thompson-Boling Arena to face South Carolina Saturday night.

Tip-off between the Vols and Aggies is at 7 p.m. ET Tuesday night from Reed Arena. ESPN is broadcasting the game.
