Tennessee head coach Tony Vitello met with the media following the Vols’ 4-3 loss to Grand Canyon on Saturday night to recap UT’s second straight loss.
Vitello mentioned mistakes as a significant reason for Tennessee’s shortcomings and touched on certain scenarios in which Tennessee needs to be better moving forward.
“Mistakes. Lot of mistakes,” Vitello said reacting to the loss. “Some of them maybe just trying to make a play happen, but also some of them a little foolish. Some of them embarrassing as well, so some things to correct for sure.
“I think guys got big in certain situations with their swings,” Vitello added. “You got a crafty lefty out there and are kind of playing into his hands. More than anything, our guys need to stay in their swing. You saw some guys running at the ball at times. Even [Kyle] Booker, he made the adjustment with two strikes and laced one, but a little out of control on the pitches before.”
Vitello’s entire press conference video from Brazell Field is below.
The Vols will look fix some of their mistakes for Sunday’s matchup against UC San Diego. First pitch is at 2 p.m. ET.
