Tennessee football made the top five for instate safety Marcus Goree Jr. Thursday morning. The Vols have long been after the instate prospect and continue to trend for the three-star safety.

Colorado, Michigan, Michigan State and Nebraska joined the Vols’ in Goree’s top group.

Goree ranks as the No. 456 player and No. 62 athlete in the country according to the 247sports composite rankings. The East Tennessee native is a high three-star and ranks as the 10th best player in the Volunteer State.

A Cleveland native, Goree stars on both sides of the ball for Bradley Central and could play either receiver or safety in college. However, Goree most likely projects on the defensive side of the ball.

Living just a short distance from Knoxville, Goree has been a frequent visitor on Tennessee’s campus during his recruitment. Goree visited the Vols last summer and again for the Alabama game before coming to Tennessee for its mid January Junior Day.

Goree also visited Deion Sanders and Colorado last month and took a visit to Nebraska during the 2022 season. The 6-foot, 170 pound athlete has yet to visit either Michigan or Michigan State.

Tennessee’s 2024 recruiting class currently holds three commits with two being from the Volunteer State. Chattanooga defensive lineman Carson Gentle committed to Tennessee in the summer while Nashville corner Kaleb Beasley joined him in the fall.

The Vols three-commit recruiting class ranks No. 18 nationally according to the 247sports team rankings.
