After a tough week that included back-to-back buzzer-beating losses to Vanderbilt and Missouri, the Tennessee Volunteers bounced back in the biggest way possible on Wednesday night.
No. 10 Tennessee defeated No. 1 Alabama by a score of 68-59 in front of a roaring home crowd in Knoxville, Tennessee.
The Vols defeated Alabama behind strong defense and clutch scoring on Wednesday night. Tennessee held a lead for the majority of the game, especially after the first 10 minutes, and never let Alabama go on a big run throughout the second half. The Vols did an impressive job of holding onto a single-digit lead as Alabama’s high-powered offense continued to try to strike back.
Just minutes after the game ended, Alabama head coach Nate Oats met with the media to discuss his reaction to the game. Oats spoke about Tennessee’s No. 1 defense, Jahmai Mashack’s on-ball pressure, and more that went into the Tide’s loss.
After Oats had wrapped up his quick press conference, Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes was next to the table. Barnes spoke about Tennessee’s mentality to fight back after the Vanderbilt and Missouri losses last week, what went into the game on Wednesday night, and much more.
Three Tennessee players – guard Zakai Zeigler, center Jonas Aidoo, and guard Santiago Vescovi – also met with the media after Barnes.
