Former Tennessee wide receiver Deangelo Gibbs is returning to college football.
According to Chapel Fowler of The State, Gibbs has joined up with Shane Beamer and the South Carolina Gamecocks football program and is currently on campus in Columbia.
Fowler’s report states that it is unclear whether Gibbs will be taking a role with the wide receivers or defensive backs for Beamer’s team.

Gibbs was a four-star prospect and a Top 50 player from the class of 2017 before signing with Georgia. The Oxford, Georgia native played for two seasons with the Bulldogs and recorded 10 tackles as a defensive back.
Deangelo Gibbs would wind up transferring to Tennessee after the 2018 season and redshirted for the 2019 season due to transfer rules. The 6-foot-1 talent would work as both a wide receiver and defensive back in a key scout team role. Gibbs then elected to opt out of the 2020 season and did not make any appearances during the 2021 season. Deangelo Gibbs is not listed on Tennessee Football’s 2021 roster, either.
Gibbs entered the transfer portal in May 2022.
Shane Beamer’s South Carolina program will close down the day on Wednesday, National Signing Day, with the No. 16 ranked recruiting class according to 247 Sports. Tennessee and Josh Heupel, on the other hand, will end with the No. 9 class in the nation.
