Tennessee basketball announced new alternate uniforms Thursday afternoon. The “Tennessee Classic” uniforms have ties all the way back to the 1936 Vols’ basketball uniforms and draws inspiration from many directions.
“Drawing inspiration from all corners of Volunteer lore, the Tennessee Classic uniform line celebrates the unique tradition and history of the UT brand,” Tennessee stated while releasing the uniforms.

When Tennessee debuts the new uniforms against Texas Saturday it’ll be the first time they’ve worn anything other than its classic home and road uniforms since 2018-19. That season the Vols debuted the throwback uniforms that ended up turning into their current home uniforms.

The cream colored uniforms with the throwback “Vols” script gives the new basketball uniforms some similarities to Tennessee baseball’s cream uniforms.

While Tennessee has only announced “Tennessee Classic” uniforms for basketball, the statement it made debuting them implies the Vols could use them in other sports.
“Alongside prior introductions of the Smokey Grey, Dark Mode and Summit Legacy concepts, Tennessee Classic presents a fourth alternate uniform avenue for Tennessee’s athletic teams.
