One of Georgia’s newest players, transfer wide receiver Rodarius “RaRa” Thomas, was arrested early on Monday morning.
According to ESPN’s Mark Schlabach via an Athens-Clarke County Jail official, Thomas’s arrest was a “felony charge of false imprisonment and misdemeanor battery-family violence.”
Thomas was arrested by University of Georgia police at 4:40 a.m. ET on Monday.
The arrest comes just one month into Thomas’s Georgia career.
The 6-foot-1 receiver committed to Georgia on Dec. 22, 2022, after two years playing for Mike Leach at Mississippi State. The Eufaula, Alabama native hauled in 62 receptions for 626 yards and 7 touchdowns over the span of those two years.

RaRa Thomas entered the portal on Monday, Dec. 5, which was the first day that it opened. That very night, Thomas announced on Twitter that he had received an offer from Josh Heupel and the Tennessee Volunteers.
Thomas tweeted out offers from Huge Freeze’s Auburn, Central Florida, Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss, Utah, Tennessee, West Virginia, Oklahoma, and Georgia – all in the span of 15 minutes on that Monday night in early December.
Despite the offers, though, Thomas elected to commit to Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs.
RaRa Thomas was a three-star wide receiver prospect from the 2021 class. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound receiver had 10 scholarship offers including South Carolina. Tennessee was not one of the teams that originally offered Thomas during his high school recruitment.
