Tennessee has landed the commitment of BYU transfer cornerback Gabe Jeudy-Lally, the former Cougar announced on his Twitter page Thursday.

Jeudy-Lally has two years of eligibility remaining.

The Austin, Texas, native played in all 13 games in 2022 and started 10. Jeudy-Lally totaled 47 tackles (31 solo), 0.5 sacks and seven pass breakups in his lone year at BYU. Jeudy-Lally’s best game as a Cougar came against Arkansas in mid-October when he racked up seven tackles.

As a true freshman in 2020 and redshirt freshman in 2021, Jeudy-Lally played at Vanderbilt. Jeudy-Lally recorded 63 total tackles during his time in Nashville along with two pass deflections and two interceptions.

Jeudy-Lally was a three-star recruit coming out of high school and was originally committed to Rice before flipping to Vanderbilt.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder brings plenty of experience to Willie Martinez’ defensive back room at Tennessee, and he will likely be in the mix for playing time along with Brandon Turnage, Kamal Hadden, Christian Charles and others.

The Vols’ defensive backs had a horrific performance in the penultimate week of the regular season against South Carolina when Spencer Rattler and the Gamecocks won 63-38, but the group finished the season strong in wins over Vanderbilt and Clemson. Tennessee’s defense allowed just 14 points across the two contests and gave up zero passing touchdowns. Tennessee faced three different quarterbacks in the last two weeks of the season, who all averaged a 25.2 QB rating.

Jeudy-Lally serves as Tennessee’s eighth transfer portal land this offseason.
