Son of Two-Time National Champion and Former NFL Starter Announces Visit to UT

Gadsden, Alabama, safety Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. announced Thursday that he is planning a visit to Tennessee, per his Twitter page.

Kirkpatrick Jr. is the son of Dre Kirkpatrick, who won two BCS National Championships while playing cornerback at Alabama. Kirkpatrick was a two-time Second-team All-SEC selection while in Tuscaloosa and was selected in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft. Kirkpatrick went on to spend nine years in the NFL, seven of which were with the Bengals.

Kirkpatrick Jr. is a 2024 three-star safety prospect on 247 Sports’ Composite Rankings from Gadsden City High School in Gadsden, Alabama.

The 6’0″, 192-pounder currently holds offers from South Carolina, UAB, Marshall, Georgia Tech and Missouri, and he took an unofficial visit to his dad’s alma mater Alabama in October of 2021.

Tennessee has landed three commits in the 2024 class so far with four-star Florida ATH Jonathan Echols, four-star Nashville CB Kaleb Beasley, and three-star Chattanooga DL Carson Gentle.

The Vols finished the 2023 recruiting cycle on a high note. After early signing day, Tennessee ranked No. 10 on 247 Sports, No. 11 on Rivals and No. 12 on On3 Sports.
