Just about a day and a half prior to Tennessee hosting Vanderbilt in an SEC matchup in Knoxville, Vols assistant coach Rod Clark and center Uros Plavsic met with the media to discuss the upcoming game.
No. 5 Tennessee (13-2, 3-0 SEC) will host in-state rival Vanderbilt (8-7, 1-1 SEC) on Tuesday night at 9:00 p.m. ET.
“Guys ask me before the season started who I felt like was the most underrated coach in the league and I said Jerry Stackhouse,” Clark said about Vanderbilt’s head coach. “I think he’s an unbelievable coach. They run good stuff. His teams are tough, they’re competitive, they make shots and since I’ve been here at least, the team that puts us in the biggest trick bag defensively is Vanderbilt. Every year. They get the most wide-open shots against us than anybody in the league and it’s partly because of how good of a coach he is.”
Vanderbilt heads into the game on Tuesday on a one-game slide after losing to Missouri 85-82 in Columbia over the weekend. Prior to that loss, though, the Commodores had strung together three straight wins against Alabama A&M, SE Louisiana, and South Carolina.
Tennessee, meanwhile, is riding a four-game win streak with victories over Austin Peay, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and South Carolina.
ESPN’s Basketball Power Index gives Tennessee a 97.2 percent chance to take home the victory in Knoxville.
