Tennessee reserve offensive tackle RJ Perry entered the transfer portal Wednesday morning, On3’s Matt Zenitz first reported.
Perry redshirted his freshman season in Knoxville after switching from defensive line to offensive line after arriving in Knoxville. The Fairfield, Alabama native was a reserve offensive tackle for the Vols the last two seasons but didn’t see any meaningful offensive snaps.
While Perry didn’t earn meaningful playing time on offense, the massive offensive lineman did earn time on special teams— primarily on field goal and PAT units.

Perry came to Knoxville as part of Jeremy Pruitt’s 2020 signing class, ranking as the No. 728 player in the country according to the 247sports composite rankings.
Losing Perry is a blow to Tennessee’s depth as it looks to replace First Team All-SEC offensive tackle Darnell Wright this offseason. However, Perry was extremely unlikely to become a starter along Tennessee’s offensive line and his departure is far from a debilitating blow.
Perry becomes the eighth Tennessee player to enter the transfer portal since the end of the regular season and the third Vol to enter the portal since the Orange Bowl. The Alabama native joins William Parker as the two Tennessee offensive linemen in the transfer portal.
