Former Tennessee Vols quarterback Josh Dobbs threw his first regular season NFL touchdown Thursday night against the Dallas Cowboys.
Titans’ quarterback Ryan Tannehill was out for the game with a high ankle sprain and Tennessee turned to Dobbs over rookie Malik Willis due to the former Liberty standout’s struggles in three starts earlier this season.
Making his first career start, Dobbs played solid in a 27-13 loss against Dallas. With the AFC South coming down to the week 18 matchup between Tennessee and Jacksonville, the Titans benched an abundance of starters including Derrick Henry against the Cowboys.
Dobbs completed 20-of-39 passes for 232 yards, a touchdown and one interception in the Thursday Night Football loss.

The former Tennessee quarterback added 12 yards and a fumble on the ground while also avoiding pressure and extending plays with his legs.
Dobbs could have had a bigger night if not for drops from receivers Robert Woods and Treylon Burks. The Georgia native joined the Titans roster last week when Tennessee signed him off Cleveland’s practice squad.
A fourth round selection in the 2017 NFL Draft, Dobbs has bounced around the league with stints in Pittsburgh, Jacksonville and Cleveland before Tennessee.
Titans coach Mike Vrabel said the team hadn’t decided who would start at quarterback in Tennessee’s week 18 matchup at Jacksonville.
