One of the top prospects from the state of Tennessee, safety Boo Carter, officially announced his Top 5 on Tuesday afternoon.

Carter’s Top 5 includes Ohio State, Oregon, Colorado, Tennessee, and Michigan.

Oregon, Tennessee, and Michigan remain in the hunt after being listed in Carter’s Top 12 from late October. Carter looks to have a solid relationship with Deion Sanders, though, as Jackson State was in Carter’s Top 12, and Colorado is now in his Top 5 after a strong push in December. Ohio State also has jumped into the mix in the last two months after not being on his initial list of 12.

Boo Carter is listed as the No. 257 player in the country, the No. 21 safety in the class, and the No. 5 player from the state of Tennessee according to On3 Sports Composite rankings. Carter ranks as a four-star prospect according to 247 Composite, On3 Composite, Rivals, and ESPN, but holds a three-star ranking from 247Sports and On3 Sports.

The 5-foot-10, 184-pound safety/athlete is from Brainerd High School in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Carter has taken visits to Tennessee, two visits to Ohio State, and is planning to take an official visit to Colorado to link up with Coach Prime once again. Carter’s most recent visits to Tennessee were during the weekend of the Vols’ 38-33 win over Florida and the 52-49 win over Alabama in mid-October.

While Carter does have one Crystal Ball prediction to Tennessee from 247 Sports’ Steve Wiltfong, and Tennessee leads the pack by a substantial margin from On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, Carter has said that his recruitment is still open and fluid and that he plans to make his commitment sometime over the summer.

Carter is a terrific player on the football field, and his status as an athlete on 247Sports points to his ability as a defensive back, wide receiver, and running back.

The original Top 12 from Boo Carter on Oct. 20 included Clemson, Jackson State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Kentucky, Tennessee, Michigan State, Penn State, Michigan, Miami, LSU, and Arizona State.

The Vols’ class of 2024 recruiting list only has three commitments but ranks at No. 12 in the nation according to 247’s database.
