Knoxville running back DeSean Bishop officially committed to the Tennessee Volunteers on Wednesday afternoon. Bishop announced his decision from the Karns High School auditorium in front of his family, friends, peers, teammates, and coaches.

“Being a hometown hero doesn’t sound too bad, right?” Bishop said before taking off a black t-shirt to unveil a bright orange one underneath.

Bishop commits to Tennessee over Appalachian State.

The Knoxville stand-out joins the Tennessee program on Signing Day as the Vols have already signed 28 players from the 2023 class. Bishop is also a back-to-back Class 5A Tennessee Titans Mr. Football Award winner from the 2021 and 2022 football seasons.

During the 2022 Karns High School season, Bishop racked up 2,413 rushing yards and an impressive 30 touchdowns to go along with it. Bishop also added 211 receiving yards, three receiving touchdowns, and even scored a touchdown during a punt return.

Bishop makes for the second running back in Tennessee’s 2023 class to go along with 6-foot-1 Birmingham native Khalifa Keith.

DeSean Bishop was originally committed to Jamey Chadwell’s Coastal Carolina program for quite a few months before eventually de-committing from the program earlier in December.

The 5-foot-10, 194-pound back is currently ranked as a three-star recruit and the No. 81 running back in the country according to 247Sports. Bishop also ranks as the No. 34 player coming out of the Volunteer state.
