BYU transfer linebacker Keenan Pili committed and signed with Tennessee football on the first day of the early signing period. Pili announced his commitment on Twitter with his paperwork following closely behind and Tennessee officially announcing his signing.

Pili comes to Knoxville with four years of college experience and one year of eligibility due to NCAA COVID-19 eligibility relief. The Provo, Utah native’s totaled 190 tackles, 3.5 sacks and four pass breakups in his first four college seasons.
The inside linebacker had his best college season in 2020 when he totaled 72 tackles in the slightly shortened COVID-19 season. Pili had a quiet 2021 season before returning this year and totaling 62 tackles and one sack.

Tennessee is losing linebacker Jeremy Banks following this season but Juwan Mitchell and Aaron Beasley are expected to return for the 2023 season.
The Vols also signed a strong linebacker prep class beating out Alabama for Smyrna four-star linebacker Aaron Carter while also adding four-star Jalen Smith and three-star Jeremiah Telander.
Pili is the fourth transfer to commit and sign with Tennessee joining UC Davis tight end McCann Castles, Indiana kicker Charles Campbell and Texas offensive tackle Andrej Karic.
Tennessee’s 2023 recruiting class currently ranks 10th nationally according to the 247sports team rankings and its transfer class ranks 37th nationally according to the transfer rankings.
