With the 2022 Heisman Ceremony around the corner, the Tennessee football department is making sure that quarterback Hendon Hooker’s case is known around the nation.

Despite suffering a season-ending injury in the penultimate game of the season, Hooker was the quarterback that took Tennessee from nothing to something over the course of his two years in Knoxville, leading to a Heisman-esque run in 2022.

Even without a full season of starts under his belt, Hooker finished as the nation’s leader in average yards per pass attempt and was the second-most efficient quarterback to play this year.

Hooker also led Tennessee to five ranked wins over the course of his 11-game season, including No. 3 Alabama, No. 20 Florida, and No. 25 LSU.

On Thursday afternoon, Hooker was named one of the five finalists for the Walter Camp Football Foundation 2022 Player of the Year Award. This award is presented to the nation’s most outstanding player annually.

Tennessee put together a video of head coach Josh Heupel explaining his perspective of watching Hendon Hooker lead the Vols during crucial drives in the Alabama game and the Florida game.
