Seven Tennessee football players are out for Saturday night’s regular season finale against Vanderbilt.
Defensive backs Brandon Turnage, Doneiko Slaughter, De’Shawn Rucker and Trevon Flowers are all out in addition to Cedric Tillman, Gerald Mincey and Hendon Hooker. Third string quarterback Tayven Jackson is also out for the entirety of the season.
That’s three offensive starters and three defensive starters who are inactive for Tennessee.
Tillman has been banged up all season after suffering a high ankle sprain in the third week of the season. Tillman played last week against South Carolina but was out the week before against Missouri.
Mincey has missed a handful of games this season and while he is listed as Tennessee’s starter, he’s split time with Jeremiah Crawford all season.
Turnage and Slaughter both exited last week’s game with an injury while Rucker was inactive last week and Flowers completed the game against the Gamecocks without any sign of injury.
With the four defensive backs sidelined Wesley Walker, Kamal Hadden and Christian Charles will be forced to step into a bigger role.
Kick off between the Vols and Commodores is at for 7:38 p.m. ET. The SEC Network is broadcasting the game.
