M’Pemba is one of Tennessee’s top targets in the 2023 recruiting class and one of the best players in the country. The 6-foot-3, 240-pound defensive end ranks as a five-star and the No. 29 player and No. 4 edge rusher in the country according to the 247sports composite rankings.
The Vols already have two of the top 10 edge rushers in the country committed. Adding M’Pemba would be another coup for defensive line coach Rodney Garner and outside linebacker coach Mike Ekeler.

M’Pemba plays his high school football at IMG Academy in Florida but is a St. Louis native. The Vols have already had success in Missouri, landing four-star Kansas City edge rusher Chandavian Bradley.
The blue chip recruit has twice visited Tennessee, seeing Knoxville this summer before officially visiting for the Alabama game in October.
While Tennessee has long been one of the top contenders in M’Pemba’s recruitment, Georgia and Miami have been viewed as the leaders. Three of the four 247sports crystal ball predictions peg M’Pemba for Georgia with the other having him land with the Hurricanes.
M’Pemba has visited Georgia four times this year including his official visit for the Tennessee game. The five-star has visited Miami twice this year and has an official visit set for the final weekend of the regular season.
Tennessee’s 2023 recruiting class currently holds 22 commits and ranks No. 11 nationally according to the 247sports team rankings.
