After suffering their first loss of the season on Saturday afternoon in Athens, Josh Heupel’s Tennessee Volunteers have dropped three spots in the AP Top 25 week 11 poll on Sunday.
Tennessee now comes in with the No. 5 ranking in the poll and is the highest-ranked one-loss team in the country.
Georgia remains at the No. 1 spot with 62-of-63 first-place votes after their 27-13 win over Tennessee. Ohio State follows at No. 2, with Michigan at No. 3 and TCU at No. 4.
Tennessee also dropped two spots in the week 11 USA Today Coaches poll and sits at No. 5 as well. The same four teams that rank above Tennessee in the AP poll are the same in the coaches poll as well.

- Ohio State (1,500/1,505)

The next round of the College Football Playoff rankings, which are the ones that are used on broadcast from this point forward, will be released on ESPN this upcoming Tuesday night.
The committee did not show precedent in the first round that unbeaten teams are always going to be above one-loss teams. TCU, an unbeaten, was ranked No. 7 in the initial rankings while one-loss Alabama was No. 6. Therefore, it’s not a guarantee that the Top 4 will be the four undefeated teams remaining. While that still seems the most likely, Tennessee’s one-loss resume is better than Alabama’s one-loss resume, which was proven to be valued more than the Horned Frogs last week.
TCU defeated Texas Tech at home this past week by a score of 34-24.
Tennessee will return to the field this upcoming Saturday for the final home game of the season at noon. The Vols will host Missouri and honor the seniors in the Tennessee program.
