Best Bets for NFL Week 7

These are the best games to wager this weekend in the National Football League. Consult the DraftKings sports betting app to see the latest odds and prices for these and all the NFL games this Sunday and Monday.

Detroit Lions (+7) at Dallas Cowboys

If there are two things we know about the Lions it is these: when they provide their fans with hope, they disappoint; and when you’re sure they will disappoint you, they make you hopeful. On Sunday following a bye week, the miserably awful Lions return to action on the road against the Cowboys, a team that’s outperformed expectations after losing their quarterback to injury.

This Sunday, Dak Prescott will be back under center for the Cowboys, but don’t expect him to be without rust. The Lions’ pass rush can put heat on the backfield, and Prescott might be flushed out or on his back more than he expects.

Oddsmakers rightfully give Detroit seven points. The Lions give up points like a frog catches flies: all day long. And the Boys are sure to put a lot of points on the board. But Detroit has a potent passing attack, and we think Jared Goff will be rested and feisty enough to toss enough TDs to keep Detroit within seven. Detroit will probably still lose, but agony is the currency of this team, and their fans will get more of it in the form of a “what if?” loss.

New York Giants (+3) at Jacksonville Jaguars

You can get +135 on the Giants’ moneyline in this meeting between the 5-1 visitors and 2-4 Jacksonville. How is that possible, seeing as how the Jags have only two wins? It’s because the experts are still not convinced that the G-Men are for real. In five of their six games, the final score has been within seven points, with three of them four or less. The Giants have five wins but haven’t looked dominant.

Still, we like those three big points and the road underdog for this early afternoon Sunday game.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Carolina Panthers (+13)

The Panthers are 27th in the NFL in scoring and 24th in the league in yards allowed. This is a team seeking four quarters of good football, well…on the same day. If the Panthers can do that, their defense shows enough promise to keep the team in the game.

That’s why we recommend taking the 13 points and betting on the home team. Tom Brady isn’t playing like that young Tom Brady from two seasons ago, and the Bucs’ O is sput-sput-sputtering.

Cleveland Browns (+6.5) at Baltimore Ravens

In a rivalry game like this, 6.5 points, even on the road, is too tempting to pass up. We like the Browns to manage enough offense on the ground to hang with the Ravens.

So far, Baltimore has proven it can move the football on the ground and through the playmaking of Lamar Jackson. But the Baltimore QB has shown a habit of tossing picks, and if the running game is stymied, the Ravens will find themselves in a dogfight with the Browns. That’s why Cleveland +6.5 is the bet on this AFC North battle.
