Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel met with the media on Thursday to discuss his final thoughts on the upcoming UT Martin game this Saturday in Neyland Stadium.
Heupel and the 6-0 Vols have had quite the hot start to the season, climbing all the way up to the No. 3 team in the country after wins against Pittsburgh, Florida, LSU, and Alabama.
While the Vols still have more ranked opponents left on the schedule, Tennessee will have a little bit of a breather this week for their Homecoming game against the Skyhawks. This, hopefully, should allow for more players to enter the game on the Tennessee side, both giving young players valuable experience and saving the starters from any unnecessary turmoil as well.
“He is a young guy that we love inside of our program,” Heupel said about freshman running back Dylan Sampson on Thursday. “We look forward to him playing and competing in this one. We have a great amount of trust in him. He’s young in his football development and he’s going to continue to grow, but for a young running back, he’s got really good understanding of pace, feel, vision, making the right cuts and playing well through contact.”
