  1. Download the DraftKings Sportsbook app.
  2. Sign up for a new account using our exclusive promo link.
  3. Receive $200 in bonus bets as soon as betting is live.
  4. The $200 will come in the form of eight $25 bonus bets.

A Second Offer on Launch Day?

There is a possibility of DraftKings allowing new Ohio users to claim a second welcome offer on Jan. 1 when betting goes live. Currently, the standard DraftKings new user promo is a $50 bonus bet and a 20% deposit match worth up to $1,000.

It remains to be seen if the $50 bonus bet would be part of an additional offer, but DraftKings could very well up the ante considering there could be 20 online sportsbooks launching at the same time.

Ohio will be rolling out all phases of sports betting on Jan. 1, 2023, making it the largest simultaneous launch in US sports betting history. Retail sportsbooks, mobile apps, and betting kiosks will all be legal when the clock strikes 12:01 a.m.

Ohio Sports Betting Legislation

After several attempts and different pieces of legislation, sports betting was officially legalized in the Buckeye State on Dec. 22, 2021, when Gov. DeWine signed HB 29 into law

Lawmakers behind the bill made it clear from the beginning that this was not going to be a rushed process. This was even more evident when Ohio announced there would be a universal launch date for all aspects of sports betting as opposed to a staggered rollout that many other states have implemented.

Ohio’s HB 29 allows for 25 Type A licenses and 40 Type B licenses, as well as Type C licenses which allow small businesses to provide betting kiosks at places like bars, restaurants, and grocery stores.

The OCCC had two application windows from June 15 to July 15 and from July 15 to Aug. 15, the first of which guaranteed operators to be part of the universal launch date (if approved). Operators wanting to provide their services in Ohio can still submit applications but won’t be guaranteed a spot on the Jan. 1 launch date.
