Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel made his way through the south end zone at Tiger Stadium. If the rambunctious Tennessee fans who wanted to do anything but leave are any indication, Heupel’s the most popular man in the Volunteer State in a long time.

Heupel made his way through the crowd and into the tiny away post game press conference room and was as calm and collected as he always is.

“I’m proud of our guys, man,” Heupel said. “They played extremely hard, and they did a lot of good things offensively, we put the ball in the end zone and had a lot of good red zone possessions.”

The offense did just that, scoring four touchdowns and four field goals while putting up 34 or more points for the fifth time this season.

As good as the offense was, the defense was even better. Tennessee held LSU to 13 points with six of them coming with the game well out of hand.

Tennessee bottled up a strong LSU rushing attack, holding the Tigers to 55 rushing yards on 28 carries.

“Defensively, we controlled the line of scrimmage,” Heupel said. “Created some negatives in the run game and got off the field on third downs.”

Heupel also discussed the play of Hendon Hooker, Tennessee’s strong rushing attack, his anticipation for next week’s game against Alabama and more.
