Best Bets for College Football Saturday
It was a wild Week 2 in college football that saw Marshall shock Notre Dame, Texas give Alabama a scare, and Georgia continue to dominate. Week 3 should bring the drama once again, so let’s take a look at a couple of Saturday’s best bets from DraftKings.
Penn State (-3) at Auburn — Saturday, Sept. 17, 2:30 p.m. CT
Penn State took last year’s game 28-20, propelled by a strong passing attack by Sean Clifford that shredded the Tigers’ secondary. Clifford is back again this year, and while he doesn’t have his top target, Jahan Dotson, he does have a solid group of receivers in Parker Washington, Mitchell Tinsley, and KeAndre Lambert-Smith.
Auburn’s secondary was its weak spot last season, and it has looked suspect so far this year as well. The Tigers also appear to lack firepower on offense, which was displayed last week with an uninspired 24-16 win over San Jose State. We like the favorite to cover in this one.
Oklahoma at Nebraska (+11) — Saturday, Sept. 17, 11 a.m. CT
It’s been a disastrous start to the season for Nebraska, to say the least. After going 1-2, the Cornhuskers have fired coach Scott Frost and will look to rally around interim head coach Mickey Joseph. Nebraska was supposed to be a lot better than what its record shows, and this game is a chance for a reset.
Oklahoma has looked great so far this year but has faced weak competition in UTEP and Kent State. The Sooners will now have to face an angry Nebraska team in a hostile environment. It will be rocking in Lincoln this weekend, and we like the Huskers to bounce back and at least cover the spread, if not win outright.
