The Tennessee Volunteers are gearing up for a Top 25-ranked matchup with Pittsburgh on the road this weekend. And now, we know what gear the Vols will be dressed out in.
As announced on Wednesday night through a post on social media, Tennessee will be breaking out their all-white “stormtrooper” jerseys for the Johnny Majors Classic rematch against the Panthers.

Tennessee will have on their white helmets to match the white jersey and white pants. Notably, while the graphic that was posted by Tennessee’s social team has the player wearing black cleats, Tennessee primarily wore white cleats with the stormtrooper look during the 2021 season.

During the week one game at home against Ball State, Tennessee didn’t pull out any fancy tricks or stunts. The Volunteers were dressed out in their traditional, orange-and-white look from head to toe.
The Vols wore the all-orange combination for their game against Pittsburgh in Neyland Stadium last season.
However, we do know that Tennessee will be breaking out alternate uniforms at multiple points this year. In addition to the all-black “Dark Mode” uniforms that Tennessee debuted in 2021, the Vols will also be bringing back their smokey grey uniform combination for a game this season.
In fact, Tennessee will be debuting three separate, new smokey grey uniform designs during the 2023 season, the 2024 season, and the 2025 seasons, respectively.
No. 24 Tennessee and No. 17 Pittsburgh will square off in the second straight year of the Johnny Majors Classic this Saturday afternoon.
